There are three major causes for male alopecia: genetic factor, male hormone and aging.

The alopecia is divided into Cicatrical Alopecia and Non-Cicatrical Alopecia. The Cicatrical Alopecia is due to a burn or incident and the Non-Cicatrical Alopecia is due to abnormal function of hair follicles, such as in alopecia areata and male androgenetic. The major causes of the male androgenetic alopecia are genetic factor, male hormone and aging.

The male androgenetic alopecia usually starts from the front area of the head to the crown of the head. When it starts early compared to other people, it may have a negative influence in one’s social and personal relationship, creating a lot of stress on the individual. The treatment of the male androgenetic alopecia is medication if it has just started. But when alopecia no longer occurs because it has progressed to certain level, then a surgical intervention is possible.

How is a bald head treated?

In the traditional society, when people respected the elder, a bald head was not a big problem. But as the society gets younger and employment is made based on one’s potential and ability, early retirement became a normal social phenomenon, wherein an aged appearance has been restricted for a more active involvement in the society. For this reason, a bald head in modern society is the major cause of mental stress.

A bald head may occur to both males and females, and in most cases, it has a genetic factor. Depending on the processing aspect of depilation, the pattern is classified as the male type and female type. The male type depilation progresses from the starting line of hair backwards, and depending on the level of progress, various forms can be seen. The level of female type depilation is less than that of males, and the depilation is progresses gradually around the starting line of hair, the crown of the head and around both areas.

In general, the progressive male type depilation is treated with an internally applied drug called Propecia and externally applied drug called Minoxidil, for female, the sole treatment with Minoxidil is frequently used.

When depilation is surgically treated, it is ideal to have a surgery after the form of baldness is completely determined.,But having a surgery when one gets too old is an indication that they are going through a period of social and mental pressure and suffering; thus, lessening the effect of surgical intervention. If one thinks there hasn’t been a big change in the amount of hair loss for the past 6 months, anyone regardless of age, can have a surgery to maximize the surgical effect.

What would be the treatment when there is no eyebrow?

Some want to have thick and strong eyebrows because the amount of eyebrow hair is too small since the birth or some may want to change the unsatisfactory shape of eyebrows. In addition, when the hairs of eyebrows are lost due to an external injury or tumor, a person may want to transplant eyebrow hair.

The eyebrows contribute to the overall facial image. A person with no or little amount of eyebrows can easily be seen creating a somewhat negative impression. In the past, people tried tattoos to make their eyebrows dark and thick, but due to the advanced hair transplant technique, one’s own hair can be used in the transplant.

The eyebrow transplantation can be performed not only to the eyebrows but also to eyelashes, thus long and beautiful eyelashes can be realized through a surgical intervention. The hairs that are transplanted to the eyebrows tend to grow fast and rough as the hairs on the head. But as time passes, it tends to be soft and short like normal eyebrows. If it looks unnatural because of the small amount of eyebrows, permanent makeup, which is a temporary tattoo method, can be adopted.
